Plein Air Painting At Christopher Creek, AZ

Christopher Creek
This little painting measures 10 x 8 inches.  I set up while the family was hiking and started to paint.  I had a great time.  The rain was coming off and on but I was set up under an awning.  It was very green and beautiful there.  The creek was only twenty feet away, heaven.  This painting is for sale for $200.   All inquiries please contact me at dfbarbee@cox.net.
Thank you for looking.

SETTING UP FOR THE EDWARDS SHOW IN COLORADO

We had quite an adventure.  My daughter, Bridgett and I drove to Colorado, set up our first official outside weekend show.  We met the most exceptional people from the artist to the people who hosted the event.  All of the people we met were so friendly and helpful.  I have to tell you if you do not visit these out door fine art shows you can really miss out on meeting and making the most incredible friends.  I really would like to do more of these shows if only to keep in contact with some of these artist.  I am going to chase down some of their websites and include them in my blogs so that you will have the opportunity to get to know them also.

I just want to say to all of you art lovers out there, please continue to support your favorite artists even in the smallest way if that is all you are able to do right now because the people I have been meeting this summer need to keep on doing what they do.  All of our hard times will pass eventually and it would be a shame if we were missing some of our more talented people when they do.

Take care everyone and God bless, I hope you will all have a great summer no matter where you go or what you do.

TREASURES OF THE CELEBRATION OF FINE ART

Grateful. . .

Without question, one of our most favorite things about the Celebration of Fine Art is the opportunity to visit with our incredible collectors. We have the most wonderful, caring and enthusiastic customers on the planet! They come from coast to coast and everywhere in between, they come from Canada, the UK, Sweden, China and just about every country out there. They plan their visit with purpose and intention of coming to the Celebration to connect with old friends and to make new. They come to discover what new talents have been added and what new masterpieces have been created by their favorite returning artists. Their passion for the art and the artists who create the works of art is what fuels the creative energy of the artists. Their enthusiasm for what we all do is what makes us all strive to reach new heights every year.

The other day we had the pleasure of visiting with two of our collectors who come from Minnesota. They were sharing how much they look forward to coming every year. In fact, this year they drove down and came straight to the show before even stopping where they were staying. They absolutely could not wait to be under the big white tents to see their artist friends and see what was new. They spent several days discovering many new treasures and connecting with friends new and old. Their only regret was that they didn’t have enough time to stay as long as they wanted! They could not stop talking about how much they love the Celebration of Fine Art. It’s a feeling you can’t get any where else. They are on their way home today and looking forward to the next time they can join us. This wonderful couple is just one example of the daily conversations we have with our collectors. Some come and stay for a week and spend every day with us. Some come once a week or more during the 10 weeks of the show just to soak up the creativity and passion that fills the tent.

We are deeply humbled by the enthusiasm of our wonderful collectors and friends. You are why we do what we do. We are grateful to you for the passion that you bring. We thank you for sharing the Celebration with your friends and families. We thank you for all that you do for our artists. And, we thank you for giving us the opportunity to do what we love – bringing art lovers and artists together under our big white tents!

We hope to see you soon. Until then, be well.

New Work in Progress, Palo Verde Tree

PALO VERDE TREE
I have painted many saguaros in my day but this would be my first Palo Verde tree.  I loved the twisted knarled trunk of this tree and the equally interesting web of shadows it cast.  This is a painting in progress.  I will probably finish it tommorrow.  So  look for it soon.  I am painting this at the Celebration of Fine Art in Scottsdale AZ.  If you want to see me work on it please come see me.  The website to the show is http://www.celebrateart.com/ .
Thank you for looking.

Happy Valentines Day!

Today was Valentines Day.  A few people were in buying presents for their sweethearts.  It was really great to see.  I seriously think that more couples should start holding hands again.  I think out of all the couples I saw in the tents today I only saw one couple holding hands.  It was a more mature couple and it was the sweetest thing I saw all day.  Nothing is more romantic than just holding hands.

LIFE AT THE CELEBRATION OF FINE ART, STARTING WEEK FIVE

MARK MARRERO AND DIANE OLSEN
Okay did they plan their outfits?  Looks like it but no this was just a great photo opt. for me.  We are heading in to the fifth week of the show.  It has been a great show so far.  The artwork is moving out the door on a regular basis.  The great part about this show is we are all constantly working so the work is fresh and new every week.  If you have not come to see us yet please do, you will not be dissappointed.  We are constantly hearing how inspirational our show is.  The artist's are so willing to visit with people, it is truly a great group of people.

CELEBRATION OF FINE ART 2010

Diane Olsen my neighbor at the Celebration of Fine Art gives a demonstration to a wide eyed little boy.  He was such a personable young man.  We really enjoyed his visit.  Diane studio is just beautiful as is her work.  She is just one of my terrific neighbors, this is our second year being across from each other.

Out Gathering Material For Future Paintings

I spent the day out hiking with my camera in the White Tanks Mountain Park. I took some great pictures of the landscape. This is one of my favorite places to go to see saguaro's. I even met some folks from Wisconson vacationing. They seemed to love the saguaro's also. Well I guess you will be seeing a lot of my material in my paintings to come. Hope to see you all at the Celebration. Don't forget to save some time to come see us.
