CHLOE

We had to say goodbye to our family dog, Chloe, last week. She had been ill for over two months and finally we had to say goodbye. She was a great dog and we will miss her.

HORSE STAMPEDE

I have a story to tell. My husband and I were hard at work at about 10:30pm and my daughter runs in and says she heard a herd of horses run down the street. Of course we didn't think it was true, but something about the way she insisted made us go outside and look. We could not see anything, we have very little street lights where we live. We looked in one direction then another and nothing. All of a sudden we heard it, we turned around and there they were, about 8 horses running our way. We were standing directly in front of them in the middle of the street. My husband, Adam, started yelling and waving his arms and the horses turned into a neighbors yard. I went to wake them and get their gate open to contain the horses. It was too late the horses turned and ran across the street to another yard. These neighbors have a beautiful park like yard with no horses of their own. The horses were running through their grass, tearing it up. They were so good about it, they were out there trying to help catch them. By now we had quite a few neighbors up, and holding handfuls of halters, trying to catch them or should I say round them up. It was all very surreal, especially when the police showed up. One of the police officer's had some experience with horses and started helping the other said he would watch the street. The horses were so scared they took flight again. They ended up in the middle of an intersection in front of a Walmart. My husband was in hot pursuit. Some of the cars stopped and barricaded the horses for us. Adam looked for the dominant horse, the alfa and got a halter on her. The rest slowly started to follow him and this mare. We got them back to the original house Adam had turned them into, because they had a big corral they could all fit in.
some of the other people helping got halters or ropes on the rest of them and led them in. This was such a bizarre experience, I just had to share it with you. By the end of the night the owners of the animals showed up and took them all home. We finally made it in the house about 1am in the morning. What a night. I have to tell you we have the most wonderful neighborhood. The people here do not think twice about helping out whenever they need it, they all jump in and gladly. I don't think you find that as much as you use to.
